In a year where Ireland hosted the 505, GP14, Fireball, SB20 World Championships, some of the other classes had a quieter year.

However, the RS fleet has seen some resurgence with boats rapidly changing hands already in late summer/autumn with sailors joining the fleet for the first time and some returning to join the fleet after a year or two of absence.

Why sail in SR? RS is a forward-thinking sailboat manufacturer, the boats are light, fast and fun, sure to put a smile on your face and a thrill to sail.

The RS Aero has transformed the game as RS200 numbers thrive as younger/lighter teams arrive with up to 180 boats at the UK Nats at Hayling Island in August 2022.

The RS400 is the original “modern classic” RS boat. It has a wide weight range that combines power & speed with an asymmetrical at an affordable price! Check out this video from this year’s RS400 National Championships (in champagne conditions at Ballyholme.

The RS fleet is due to stage the final event of the year on October 8-9 at the brand new clubhouse in Killaloe SC, Co. Clare for the RS200/400 Inlands. The club already have an established RS fleet, with many more from the strongholds of Greystones, Blessington and across Northern Ireland expected to travel.

Registration is available for Inland for anyone thinking of coming, NOR, Entry Page, SI’s and Whatsapp Group all listed on the page with some suggested places to stay while camping , etc. will be available at the club.

For those who don’t yet have a boat but would like to join the class, there is a Crew Union Facebook page below (anyone interested can join) and the class website here and the Irish RS200/RS400 Dinghy Crews’ Union (Facebook page)

The AGM is due at the end of October and will decide Irish events for 2023.

Already confirmed for 2023, the RS400 Eurocup is the epic venue for Torbole, Lake Garda from May 29-June 2 and UK Nationals Mounts Bay SC from July 31-August 4, with the same event heavily rumored to return to Ireland of the North in 2025.

BENGALURU: The floods spared no one – neither the pourakarmikas in their sheds, nor the CEOs in their posh villas. For the second day in a row, residents of these high-end properties were left stranded and had to be evacuated in dinghies and tractors.

Residents of apartments and villas, some costing up to Rs 13 crore each, blamed the BBMP for the deluge.

However, these are the same apartment and villa complexes that have been listed for demolition because they have encroached on the culverts of water bodies.

As a warning, the BBMP deployed earth-moving machinery to the Divyashree and Epsilon flats to break up the slabs blocking the drains.

“About 500 feet of slabs have been removed from the Divyashree apartment complex, and 20 feet of encroachment has been removed at the residential Epsilon Villas in Yamalur. The situation has improved now,” said Dr. Trilok Chandra, Commissioner Mahadevapura Area Task Force who were deployed to monitor flood relief, salvage work and also clear encroachments.

He told TNIE that the BBMP will continue its encroachment campaigns and clear the culverts connecting the lakes to stop the flooding.

According to reports, an apartment in Divyashree ranges between Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 7 crore.

“When launched, the price of the property was around Rs 2 crore and has risen to Rs 8 crore. Despite paying so much, it is still flooded,” said a local resident.

Similarly, Adarsh Palm Retreat, comprising over 300 villas, was also flooded due to heavy rains, bursting lakes and overflowing sewers.

At Ramagondanahalli’s TZ apartment, the BBMP had to deploy boats and the Belagavi SDRF team was dispatched to coordinate with BBMP and fire and emergency officials.

Crews have also been deployed to Yamalur-Borewell Road to transport residents from Shobha Palladium and other areas.

The drain next to this apartment is almost full and the main road is under 3 feet deep water.

Floods in Bengaluru have engulfed luxury cars.

From Bentley to Lexus, Audi Q5, Mercedes Benz and others were overwhelmed.

Unacademy CEO Gaurav Munjal, his family and his pet were evacuated on a tractor on Tuesday.

French police have been captured in startling new video as they carry out an aggressive operation to stop a group of migrants launching a boat off Dunkirk. A group of people equipped with life jackets rushed out to sea, carrying a small dinghy on their shoulders as they sprinted on the beach. The group, believed to include Albanian and Iraqi Kurdish migrants, was intercepted by a French police team who slashed the boat in an effort to stop the launch. As the group broke up and some people walked towards the officers, the police responded by quickly pepper spraying the migrants, forcing them to flee the scene.

A reporter in the video broadcast by Channel 4 related the events from the beach: “We have about 40 or 50 people and the police buggy has just arrived to try and arrest them.”

The group reportedly attempted to cross the British Channel to reach British shores.

Most of the group abandoned their bid to cross the English Channel as the boat began to visibly deflate after suffering a flat tire following police intervention.

A man in a gray hoodie appeared to rush to confront officers as the boat fell to the ground, but several French police quickly pepper sprayed him at point-blank range, knocking him back.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that more than 20,000 migrants have already crossed the English Channel this year alone.

At the same time in 2021, just over 11,300 crossings had been confirmed by the government, demonstrating the sharp increase in the number of migrants reaching British shores.

Thousands of migrants have already made the dangerous journey this year, and many more are expected in the coming months to seek asylum once they reach British soil.

The government is under increasing pressure to crack down on migrants arriving in the country through dangerous and illegal routes, with taxpayers forced to meet the extraordinary costs of the asylum system.

Leaked figures reveal 1,075 Albanians arrived in the UK on dinghies and small boats over the six weeks https://coteeriverboatrentals.net/leaked-figures-reveal-1075-albanians-arrived-in-the-uk-on-dinghies-and-small-boats-over-the-six-weeks/ Sun, 07 Aug 2022 22:27:05 +0000 https://coteeriverboatrentals.net/leaked-figures-reveal-1075-albanians-arrived-in-the-uk-on-dinghies-and-small-boats-over-the-six-weeks/ In response to a rise in the number of Albanians using tiny boats to enter Britain, MPs have urged the government to step up efforts to deport migrants to Rwanda. In response to a rise in the number of Albanians using tiny boats to enter Britain, MPs have urged the government to step up efforts to deport migrants to Rwanda.

According to the figures that have been disclosed, migrants from the NATO member country and EU candidate in the Balkans now represent four out of ten arrivals in northern France.

In the six weeks to July 12, an increase saw 1,075 Albanians arriving in the UK on dinghies and small boats.

Surpassing all other nationalities, including Afghans, Iranians, Iraqis and Syrians, they made up 37.5% of all migrants transported to the UK by gangs in small boats during this period.

The future prime minister has been urged by Tory backbenchers to act quickly.

According to Natalie Elphicke, Conservative MP for Dover, the majority of Albanians arriving in the UK in tiny boats are not seeking asylum due to conflict or persecution; rather, they come for economic reasons.

There is an urgent need to move forward with Rwanda and similar plans because it is pure illegality.

The “really eye-opening” statistics, according to Tory MP for Ipswich Tom Hunt, “underline why it’s so vital that the government gets on with it and gets the Rwandan agenda started”, and we need to stop this farce.

The first item on the ‘entry tray’ when Parliament reconvenes after the summer recess should be legislation to implement the Rwandan plan.

A source from the Liz Truss leadership campaign said: ‘Liz has a proposal to expand the Border Force, make sure the European Convention on Human Rights works for Britain and reform the rules of the ‘modern slavery that are exploited.’

The need for deterrence is crucial, which is why we will ensure that the migration agreement with Rwanda succeeds and we will strive for more agreements.

“It is completely unacceptable that migrants from peaceful countries, such as Albania, seek to enter the UK illegally,” said a spokeswoman for Rishi Sunak’s campaign.

He said blocking crossings would be a top priority for him.

The country is much further down the arrivals list based on the number of Albanians arriving by small boat over a six-week period, according to the most recent government data.

In the first three months of this year, just 271 small boats arrived in Britain, and 757 did so in the whole of 2021. But in the year to March, Albanians dropped off nearly of 5,000 asylum applications, suggesting a growing number of people may be using small boats instead of other gateways into the UK, such as sneaking under lorries.

The rise in the number of Albanian asylum seekers last night was unjustified, according to the Interior Ministry.

If these people aren’t really fleeing for their lives, it’s not the UK public’s responsibility to support them, according to Reform UK’s Richard Tice, who obtained the leaked study.

Whether the Albanian increase can be seen as an “anomaly”, Clare Moseley of refugee organization Care4Calais questioned.

According to the data, the bulk of those crossing the Channel in recent years were genuine refugees, she claimed.

If there has been a change, it seems that the popularity of small boat crossings is having an impact on the actions of smugglers.

“The growth of risky Channel crossings is unacceptable,” a government spokeswoman said.

We have introduced life sentences for people who help to enter the country illegally, and the Nationality and Borders Act makes it a crime to knowingly enter the UK.

The Howth Yacht Club hosted the Leinster Irish 420 Dinghy Championships over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

As Afloat previously reported, the Leinster Championships are the second regional event of the year for the class, with the Connaught Championships having already been completed at the Galway Bay Sailing Club and also taking part in the excellent biennial Double Ree Regatta organized by Lough Derg Yacht Club. .

Saturday at the Leinster Championships dawned with an unpromising drizzle and light winds for the boats returning from the 420 European Junior Championships as they disembarked the ferry in Dublin and headed early to Howth for the first day of race. The weather improved steadily throughout the morning as the fleet launched and headed for the race course. A series of windward-leeward courses were laid out and with the wind increasing steadily throughout the day the race committee was able to raise the ‘O’ flag allowing rule 42 to be suspended so that 420 crews could pumping, rocking and ooching the boats when the breeze was regularly above 13 knots to deliver excellent races.

After a break of a few weeks since the last event, the fleet was eager to start racing, which led to a few ‘U’ flags in the first race for those pushing the line a bit too hard. Race one, after some close racing, eventually went to the local Malahide/Howth pairing of Hauer and Micka. Subsequently, the Galway Bay Sailing Club duo of McGrady and O’Sullivan continued their fine form from the start of the year to win the next three races on Saturday. It gave the Galway duo a clear lead overnight with the first gap after three races. The decision to run an extra race on Saturday proved to be a visionary move by PRO Scorie Walls. The wind proved elusive on Sunday and the fleet was sent ashore early when any hope of a breeze materializing evaporated.

Howth Yacht Club again provided excellent race management and organization for the event on Fingal’s sailing waters. The next 420 races will take place at the Munster Regional Championships which will be held on August 13-14 at the Waterford Harbor Sailing Club and will be followed by the 2022 National Championships from August 26-28 at the Rush Sailing Club.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will feature artwork by Ivyside Art Show winner Juried Chao Ding, August 18 through October 2, in the Sheetz Gallery at the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Ding is a perceptual painter from Beijing. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from Peking University of Technology, he studied painting and drawing at SUNY Buffalo and completed his Masters of Fine Arts at Louisiana State University in 2019. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions across the United States, and his work has been permanently collected by the LSU Museum of Art, the Parish Library, and other Louisiana public institutes. His work is represented by Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, California.

Ding’s work reflects his own life experiences and explores the beauty of lonely, deserted and unusual spaces, he explained.

“My paintings are a diary of things that happened around me. The feeling of loneliness brought by my upbringing has always made me have a sentimental attachment to trashed and non-functional things. When I arrived in the United States, the feeling of displacement drove me to explore abandoned houses, where I gained an inexplicable sense of grounding. I focus on revealing the unusual beauties and poetic meaning of these deserted spaces in my work,” Ding said.

The galleries are open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 814-949-5452.

Red Bay RNLI rescued three people this afternoon (Wednesday August 3) after their dinghies were washed out to sea off Cushendall.

The Belfast Coastguard asked the volunteer crew to launch both their all-weather and coastal lifeboats at 2.22pm after the group sounded the alarm that their three dinghies were flooded with water .

An RNSLI spokesperson said: “The weather at the time was good with calm seas, but there was a Force 4 offshore wind blowing.

“The all-weather lifeboat was launched under the command of coxswain Paddy McLaughlin and four crew on board at 2.28pm, together with the coastal lifeboat helmed by Gary Fyfe and three crew on board.

“With the exact location unknown, lifeboats began an immediate search of the area, with the inshore lifeboat crew locating the three victims on the submerged inflatables two miles east of Cushendall.

“The victims were wet, cold and shaken from their experience. The crew worked to transfer them and the dinghies safely to the all-weather lifeboat, where they were then brought ashore.”

Speaking after the rescue, Red Bay RNLI Helm Gary Fyfe said: ‘Time was running out this afternoon and luckily the group had a means of communication to raise the alarm when they knew they were in trouble.

“It meant we could locate them and rescue them quickly before they were in greater danger.

“We know inflatables can be fun, but we encourage people to remember that they are designed for swimming pools and not for the beach where they can be easily blown out to sea, especially in offshore winds like today. today.

“If you bring an inflatable to the beach, be sure to choose a supervised beach and use it near the shore and between the red and yellow flags. Make sure children are supervised and never use an inflatable in big waves or when the orange windsock flies.

“If you get in trouble or see someone else in trouble, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.”

High-tech companies are using artificial intelligence for the vehicle inspection process.

Sounds a little dry, but it’s potentially a game-changer for anyone with a smartphone who wants to file an insurance claim, pick up or drop off a rental car or rideshare, return a rental vehicle, or one day make an appointment. you at the dealership, knowing in advance what is wrong with the vehicle.

“I call it ‘inspection proliferation,'” said Eliron Ekstein, co-founder and CEO of London-based Ravin AI, with offices in Israel and Austin, Texas.

“Traditionally, you have to take the car to a car auction, or to a special place at a dealership, and have it examined by a specialist. We see a need to inspect vehicles when used by non-professionals , by ordinary people like you and me,” he said in a phone interview.

The obvious problem with do-it-yourself inspections is that most people don’t know what they’re looking at. This is where Artificial Intelligence comes in.

Companies like Ravin AI can instantly compare consumer-shot video with learning distilled from millions of images of damaged and undamaged vehicles. An AI-enabled program can also tell the consumer where to position the camera if they’re out of position or have missed spots, Ekstein said.

There are many more potential uses, he said. For example, when you’re done with a carpool vehicle, the owner might not have a chance to inspect the vehicle until another user arrives and drives it.

For owner and driver protection, there must be a way to reliably and in detail certify what condition the vehicle is in and when, Ekstein said. If there is damage, a timely inspection can attribute the damage to the correct customer.

At the end of a car lease, Ekstein said it’s time-consuming and stressful for the consumer to have to make an appointment for an inspector to come and do an in-person inspection of the leased vehicle to be handed over, if necessary. It is also time-consuming and costly for the leasing company.

Instead, artificial intelligence makes inspections a practical, standardized and repeatable process, he said. “The goal is really to standardize the quality of inspection, with people who are not professionals.”
