Vintage Australian 14 ‘Target’ restored and displayed in Perth © Anthony Anderson

Last year Anthony Anderson, a longtime Victorian International 14′ sailor, restored the 1972 Aus 14 TARGET. Formerly owned by Ray Hancock of Perth, it won the Australian 14′ Championships and was a runner-up at the 1979 i14 World Championships in San Francisco.

Anthony recently acquired STREAKER, a UK International 14 built in 1971 by Bill McCutcheon on the Isle of Wight. It arrived in Perth a few weeks ago and was on display at the Perth Dinghy Sailing Club and he and Brad Devine mistook it for a sail.

In the photo gallery above, you can see STREAKER alongside Brad Devine’s BOCA DEL VISTA, the current Australian champion – it shows just how far the 14 has grown in 51 years, and since the merger of the International 14 and Australian 14 in 1996/7.

STREAKER is on her way to Melbourne and is expected to be exhibited with TARGET at various wooden boat regattas and possibly the Australian International Championships 14 after Christmas at the Black Rock Yacht, Club.

TARGET and STREAKER are wonderful examples of wooden boats that fiberglass cannot replicate.

STREAKER is Anthony’s 20th 14, and he’s still running his 18th 14′ JOKER.
