Barletta Pontoon Boats – a brand new pontoon boat company located in Bristol, Indiana – received the 2018 National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award in the pontoon category.
The award recognizes revolutionary new consumer marine products and was presented at the opening night of the Minneapolis Boat Show. This year’s program evaluated 14 products in three categories featuring an exceptional group of veteran pillars of the maritime industry.
Barletta, under the direction of Bill Fenech, president and co-owner, entered his first class of pontoon boats, the Barletta L-Class, in series in the competition. Fenech is a 30+ year veteran in the RV industry, most recently as a co-owner of Grand Design RV, in Middlebury, Ind.
The Barletta L-Class includes integrated pet food and water dishes, two-stage lift straps with invasive species flushing, ‘Yeti-ready’ cup holders and a cooler back, and more. Barletta L-Class pontoon boats have been recognized for their innovative approach to many of the issues plaguing boaters today.
“It is an absolute and exciting honor to receive the NMMA Innovation Award, right out of the gate,” said Fenech. “We’ve spent months reviewing and rethinking every square inch of today’s pontoon boat … then designed and redesigned, with our customers’ on-water experience as a guiding principle. It is a validation of our direction and all of our hard work by our peers in the marine industry.
Barletta Pontoon Boats are built in a 110,000 square foot facility located on 37 acres in Bristol, Ind.
The brand officially launched earlier this month and offers eight floor plans. Barletta is currently shipping units across the United States.
“We were facing some pretty stiff competition,” said Jeff Haradine, vice president of sales. “Some of the most seasoned heavyweights in the industry have competed. We know we have a unique and attractive approach to our relationships with our customers and dealers; we now have independent confirmation that our product will be just as attractive.
