33 BOATS PARTICIPATE IN BRADING’S ICEBREAKERS SERIES RACES 3 AND 4 – Island Echo

Races 3 and 4 of the Icebreakers series from Brading Haven took place on a gray and cold day with light and variable winds of 3 to 9 knots last Sunday (January 23).

With the wind blowing in from the east/northeast this allowed some windward legs to the harbor entrance and the inclusion of a few ‘dog legs’ up and down either side of the fishermen’s pontoon .

Sailors from Yarmouth Sailing Club, Royal Victoria Yacht Club and Gurnard Sailing Club joined in the action, which saw 3 fleets race across most of the harbour. The Illusion fleet having chosen to run just outside the port.

A total of 33 boats raced 2 races on the same course with the fast fleet taking an extra lap at the Slows and Scows each time with the following results…
